JOHN CUMMISKEY RACING DEBUTS AT GRAND PRIX OF INDIANAPOLIS

INDIANAPOLIS – It was an exciting day for John Cummiskey Racing and driver Nathan Blok, as both driver and team made their Cooper Tires USF2000 Powered By Mazda debut on the newly designed road course at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Grand Prix of Indianapolis – Race 1.

After qualifying 14th with a fast time of 01:33.5954, Blok powered the John Cummiskey Racing / Salin Bank car number 33 home in 12th place.

A heavy downpour shortly before grid time forced teams to start the race on wet weather tires.  An early caution for a car off track allowed for a strategic move by the team.  After observing how quickly the track was drying on a suddenly sunny, breezy and warm May afternoon, the call was made by team owner John Cummiskey and crew to call Blok into pit lane for dry weather tires, under the caution period.  This move allowed Blok drive the majority of the race on the faster dry weather tire, and earn the 3rd fastest lap time of the race (1:29.0405) earning the team a 3rd place starting position for Saturday’s race number 2.

Race 2 begins May 10th, 2014 at 10AM Eastern.  Live timing and scoring can be viewed at https://usf2000.com/results/live-timing.
